We are gods
in an incomplete world;
we are not semi-gods
in a finished one.
One cannot become god-like;
one either is
or isn't.
We are forced
to look at ourselves -
fonts of skewed perfection;
vessels of such potential -
and then the world:
bitter, violent, dead and dying,
capricious;
such teeth.
God has abandoned us -
if only we had abandoned him
first.
